If you’re someone who snacks a lot, you probably have those go-tos you prepare over and over again. Maybe it’s yogurt with nutella, cheese and crackers, or apple slices with peanut butter. Call it a snacking routine, call it a snacking rut—either way, sometimes you just want to make something that feels a little more celebratory. Whether you’re entertaining friends or making a little treat for yourself between zoom calls and to-do lists, it’s nice when something special only takes minutes. The answer? Stuffed dates!
Build your own stuffed date with what you have, or choose one of my 8 stuffed date suggestions at the end of this post.

My 8 favorite combinations
Before we get to my formulas for improvisation, here are my favorite 8 combinations. Jump to the recipe at the end to get all the ingredient details.

Build-your-own stuffed dates
There are a few ways to go about improvising your own stuffed date combination. It all depends on what you’re in the mood for! Are you craving a charcuterie board, a sweet little treat, or do you have a total sweet tooth?

Charcuterie date
= Cheese + something savory + an extra flavor booster (optional)
Just think of your dream charcuterie bite. Maybe it’s mozzarella, prosciutto, and basil. Or maybe it’s camembert and jammy onions.

Little treat date
= Nut or nut butter + chocolate + something crunchy (optional)
This is for when you’re not in the mood for a full-on dessert, but you’d like a sweet snack.

Sweet tooth date
= A few components from your favorite dessert all combined together!
Just take your favorite dessert ingredients and put them in and/or on a date. Banana pudding date? Combine a ‘nilla wafer + banana slice! Raspberry cheese cake date? Cream cheese + honey + graham cracker crumbles + a raspberry!
